trans leaking gear oil from inside
I have a buddy that has a p10. His clutch and everything else is soak in gear oil. Would anybody know what will cause this to happen? Some shop told him he needs a whole new transmission.

Cracked? Or if the input shaft has a seal? Don't know much about trannys.

I'd check the input shaft seal.

And, if you aren't afraid of opening the trans case, you should have no reason it can't be fixed and used. If it's cracked somewhere near the shaft, you might even be able to weld it with a TIG and a good welder.

Wingman thank you so much for the breakdown of the trans and everyone else for your input. I'll let him know. His mechanic said the car has too many miles on it (226k) and the trans needs to be replace. He said all this without even opening anything up. A few months ago the car drove fine until he took it to some shady spot where they did a clutch job. I sold him a jwt pp and b15 clucth and the installer called me to complain about the pp and clutch not looking the same as the one that came of the trans. Well duh! because its not stck crap. I had to go thier and put it on the trans myself to make him feel stupid.

That seal or it's cracked. Clean the case and search for the crack once you take it apart. In either case you won't need a new trans just a case or seal.

based on this, this car has been taken to a lot of people that don't know what they're talking about. I recommend not going to either of these shops ever again

So the trans need to be opened up to change the input seal? Its not something that can just be replace when doing lets say a clutch job?
