Oil Pump or main bearings?
Just look at the pressure fully warmed.
Every couple of months I get a dry start and I have to blip the throttle to get the marbles to dissapear. The dipstick could still read full.
I am going thru a quart every 1000 miles. Anyone else change an oilpump with success?
At cold start the pressure is up, but once the oil car warms up there is virtually 0 pressure at the guage.

Sorry for the not so steady hand, but NY roads are rough!

I'm doing a replacement as we speak. It's not too bad depending on whether you want to do it in car or can take the engine out.

^ that is true the complexity will depend on weather or not you pull the motor or you dont....though you can do it with the motor in it just complicates things a bit

Yeah. It's a breeze with the engine out, with it in (like I'm doing) there's more work in smaller spaces. Plus lots of creative uses of jackstands, tranny jacks, and engine hoists.

Can I ask why you are swapping pumps? I am curious.

Have you checked the oil pan first, and also check the o rings for the oil pump pickup before you get into a daylong job.

The slightest dent on the oil pan can cause a loss of oil pressure.

Did that. Checked the pickup and screen. They were clear. I am going to take the pan off again. It does look slightly pressed in...slightly. I am going to compare it to Brooklyn NX's pan tomorrow.

don't compare it, just bang it out
the pan is supposed to be convex not pressed in at all. I thought mine wasn't enough to cause a loss of oil pressure, but it was. I am lucky I caught it soon enough. Take off your pan and bang it out.
