P/S Removal
So since my power steering is leaking all over the place, I figure now is the best time to just pull it all out. The car doesn't have A/C either, so does anyone know which belt to purchase to run the water pump?

Also, does it matter which lines I loop together? Searched for a how-to and couldn't find one.

you need to have some kind of belt tensioner..

I see this:

Power Steering Elimination kit

But are there any cheaper alternatives? Maybe a factory tensioner for cars that did not have power steering?

you can get a belt that fits tight around the crank, and water pump pulley. the water pump pulley needs to be removed to install it

Gates has a new belt that they came out with that self tensions. (doesn't need an idler pulley) Wonder if I could use that.

You take the lines out and loop where they use to connect with 5/16 fuel emission hose(think thats what I used) You will need to get barb fittings for this if you dont have them.

Pretty sure the magic numbers are 32" or 32.5" if I remember its on the common parts list #'s thread

I got this from that thread:

But nobody answered him.

Just take the P/S pump apart. Take the rear bracket off the pump. You will see 4 bolts under that that hold the rear of the pump on. Take that off and you will see a wheel with a bunch of metal vains on it. Slam the pump on the ground to knock all that stuff out and you have just gutted your pump. You will notice the pump shaft is mounted on a sealed bearing, so no need to fill the pump with fluid. Put the plates back on and simply use the pump housing/pulley as the tensioner. This method is completely free.
