Thinking Of Selling My Cousin My Car, What To Do?
So im thinking of selling my cousin(whos like a brother) my ride, but i have a few concerns.

1st concern is, Will he take care of my(possibly his) car the way I would, and not let it go to hell?

2nd Should I sell it to him ASIS for 3k(his price), mods are PopCharger, WAI, Cams, Hotshot Gen4, Greddy Piping with SP2pan, pullies, solid mounts fidanza/act HDPP and sprung 6puck and an ok suspension. there might be afew more things but i cant remember, and the car made 167whp on the dyno

3rd Should I sell everything seperate and not even bother selling him the car. In the long run I could make more than 3k

I do have another SE-R(VE) but I would really hate to see this one all fuked up, the body is in ok condition, and there isnt any major rust...

mods if you can make a poll yes sell to cuz or part and sell or just keep it

keep it in the fam and teach him how to do things. It will be an experience you cant get with anything else

To be honest, $3000 is a great price, especially since it's a family member that made that offer. Sell it to him and show him the ropes. Tell him anytime anything needs to be done to it to make sure he comes to you for help if he can't do it himself. Show him how to take care of it, and let it be the beginning of your very own little "possey."

Sell it to him and help him along the way. You'll both appreciate it that way.

I agree with Luka the only concern I have is from a past experience where I sold my neighbor a car and basically every single little issue I heard about and I was still basically married to the car but if that doesn't bother you I say go for it. How old is your cousin if you don't mind me asking?

i dont mind my aunt(his mom)knows i take care of my cars so the only way the car will die is if he doesnt take care of it.he just turned 20 still just a kid, lol and im 27(i think). he absolutly loves my car. i think im going to do it as soon as my VE is up and running. like i said it will just kill me if he doesnt do the car justice. hes mentioned to my wife he wants to redo the suspension put rims and a bike rack(for what i dont know because hes lazy as ****, i guess its one of those things)

Don't sell it if you not gonna like it. But you could estimate if he has the means and time to keep it in good shape, the rest will be in good faith i'm afraid.

But I understand your thinking, so I recommend telling him you will take it apart (for several weeks) and see how he responds

My initial reaction was to say that nothing good can come out of selling a car to a neighbor, friend, or family member. Then some good points were make in posts that had me leaning in the other direction -- maybe this could work....

Then I came to the "rims and bike rack" line and I was brought back to my senses. Owning an SR20 is a labor of love driven by a special and rare view of the world that values speed with stealth, abhors posers, and would rather spend 6 hours laying under a car in freezing weather than pay $300 in labor to a mechanic. If your cousin doesn't have this mind set, then selling your car to him would likely end up pissing off both of you.

If he does have this world view, it would be better for him to find his own car to buy and come to you for guidance and help with a car that he "owns" in every sense of the word.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Truer words were never spoken. Keep it man. If anything, help him pick out another SR.

If you need the money, sell it.
If you don't need the money to fund the VE, keep it.
