Shifter Options
What kind of shifter are you guys using out there.. Right now I have a no name short shifter in there but once it is in gear there is a little bit a slop ...it does not feel firm in gear. Is there anyone using a shifter with 0 slop in it? What brand is it?

Slop while the trans is in gear sounds like a problem with your trans not your shifter. That's my guess anyway, I could easily be wrong.

Depending on how picky you are, that could just be normal. I've never felt a transmission with zero slop once it is in gear.

Me either. Ive used a B&M and it was a notchy turd.

The Pacesetter is a nice one as is the TWM.

Im using a stock shifter with the pivot moved up and IMO it feels the best with the ES bushings.

I've had a B&M for the longest time now and it's pretty great. No complaints whatsoever. I guess you could call it notchy, but for me that "notchy" feeling gives the shifter a nice feel.

i have been wanting a (brand new) B&M short throw shifter... ever since I had a rusted out one in my NX... even rusted out it was nice... the next owner pulled it out and returned to stock

shouldn't this be in General SR20 ??

and we should tell him not to leave his hand on the shifter for long.. it will wear the synchro's and cause gear pop-out..

i have no idea how much slop my shifter has when in gear, I shift and then take my hand off the shifter and back to "two o'clock"....

although i guess it could also be good to get a sense of how much slop is in there IF it is an indication of other problems...

I think I want to try a little something different than the B&m shifter .....has anyone ever heard of the Twm short shifter. I see that they make a application for our cars but I do not really see too much info around for them. Is there anyone using their product? I see alot of B15 guys using them on their forum.

I heard about the sycro wear problem when you leave your hand on the shifter years ago. Don't know if there is any truth to that though because I do it all the time an not noticed a single problem with my transmission. I actually have the shifter out of the car now and noticed that it is 3 different peices. Shifter rod, pivot ball, and the pivot ball mount can all be dissasembled....There is a little play between each one....too much by my standards....I want a solid shift sort of like a mazda miata.

I have heard about the TMW Performance one (I used to have a B15) I think I heard that it was a copy of a less expensive shifter or that someone copied there design and sold it for less money.

go with the pacesetter adj. shifter. it is great. it is an exact coppy of the SMC shifter, they sold the rights to pacesetter upon shutting down. it is by far the best i believe, link it with the CNC billet shifter bushing from CS and you will have a nasty unit
