Normal Lowport to RR Lowport
I swapped a RR head on to my 1996 lowport block.is it just plug and play or Is there anything else i need to change in order to get it running right?

There are a few little details but it's all real obvious. The crank case vent tubes are run differently, the EGR stuff is going to be a little different and the idle control plugs might be different, but swapping pieces around should get you to where you need to be.

you have to use the normal lowport intake manifold with all the sensors and the coolant hoses and thermostat housing

I was thinking that the idle control solenoids might have a different shape electrical plug so that they wouldn't plug in to each other. That's the problem I was worried about.

being that the rr seems to be electronically controlled could cause a problem.

in short, use your non rr itm as sernewbie stated.

i'm running all of my old stuff.the only thing swapped was the head itself with its internals (valves, springs, cams, etc,) all sensors and manifolds were from my old setup

You should be good to go then. The idle problems must be from something not exactly related tot he RR head.
