Thread: Do I need this that was on my VC???

I bought another Valve cover and noticed the plastic thing is not there no more.

The picture below is where the plastic thing supposed to be, Can I install the VC without that plastic thing?

What is the purpose of the plastic nipple (i guess that is what it is)?

I wish I could tell you what that is. I don't really see why you couldn't use the valve cover without it tho. Sorry for this not being the answer you wanted to hear.

if its there, then i guess nissan had a reason to put it there... so ya i think u would need it

IIRC that's there for something related to the breather tube that connects to that galley. While I can't tell you exactly how it works, I can say that you probably can run without it, but you might end up sucking and burning a bit more oil than is normal.

ive ran my cars without it for years... never did notice a difference..

Check SR20forum on that one. THe question was asked a long time ago. Your good not having it. Wont cause any probs.

I think it's the drain for the oil seperator.
