I break mine in for .5 miles. That's just to make sure nothing falls apart going down the street, though. Then I dog the piss out of it and if it doesn't break on me in 5 minutes, it won't break.

From what I remember seeing, it is similar to breaking in brakes. Basically you want the clutch to coat the flywheel equally.

Now with higher hp clutches, they have rough surfaces, and it could scratch the flywheel deeper in some areas, lightly driving should technically allow for it to be eating equally.

I was beating on my car by the end of the day, couldn't last 500 miles, so far no problems though

I like your technique I'm gonna do that when I change my clutch this weekend.
