A new control arm is $55 on ebay. Subtract the price of a new balljoint ($30), the time and money you spent driving around to rent things (priceless) and the price of replacing both control arm bushing with new ($15), and the new control arm is nearly cheaper, not to mention...its mad easy to replace!

Not trying to annoy you just saying after replacing both ball joints and having a hell of a time with each one....I will never do it again.

I rented a press from autozone, which worked to press them in, and to get one out, the other I had to have a friend come over with an oxy-acetylene torch and melt the other out....

Best of luck my friend.

How much do the actual nissan lower control arms run for an nx2000 with the ball joints already in them?

Stop being a dodgy mechanic

Take the driveshaft out.

Bring the castel nut to the top of the thread - and use a bras punch and hit the acutally ball joint a few times. %It will vibrate itself loose and pop off.

WTF are you guys talking about? The spindle is out of the equation, now. No need to take the drive axle out. All that's left is the control arm and the ball joint.

Now, i have plenty of access to a press. The pain is having to take the control arm off. It's a lot more complicated on the P10. But I'm not going to buy a new control arm. BTW, the ball joint was $15.

yeah it's easier if you remove the lower arm completely, then remove the snap ring/circlip that holds the ball joint in and wack the fack outta the ball joint to get it out, then use a press to press in the new ball joint, i forget what size socket to use to press the new one in, OR you can rent the ball joint tool kit from AZ and " balance " the new joint in while pressing it....

Yea, I used to just whack the hell out of it. Not this one. I have an air hammer and a serious mallet. Neither worked, I was wailing on it for a combined 30 minutes. I'm just going to take it off and press it, out and in.

As for my original problem, the pickle fork worked great....with the air hammer. There's no reason to remove the axle.

I bought complete control arms from Rockauto for my B14. Less than $60 each, if I recall correctly. If your ball joints are shot, there is a good chance that the inner arm bushings are also shot.

I just installed super pro lca bushings and moog ball joints last week on my p10. Arms are easy to take off, then I just dropped em off at a machine shop to press them in and out. It was like $10 to have the shop take the ball joints out and press em in.

Nice i will keep that in mind. I think every bushing/joint on my g20 is shot or on its way out. LOL I could be wrong though. This summer i plan on going through the entire suspension and brakeing system, and also repainting the car, once the nx is back on the road.
