SR20DET pistons and rods on SR20DE crankshaft
Will stock SR20DET pistons on DET rods fit a regular SR20DE crankshaft?

If not, what would have to be needed/done to make them fit?

And how about DET pistons on DE rods (stock, tomei, eagle, w/e)?

Or to put it differently: What are (if any) the differences between DET pistons and rods, and DE pistons and rods, other than CR? And would they be exchangable?

This because I want to lower the CR in my VE with DE crank and rods from 13.5:1 to around 9:1 (which will be achieved with DET 8:5 pistons).

Thanks!

they will all work as long as they arent gtir pistons/rods

They can not be interchanged, not at all.......They are the same crank but still can not be interchanged.

its interchangable...just de and gtir rods arent.

you just proved yourself wrong in your own sentence

So GTI-R pistons and GTI-R rods wouldn't work on a DE crank, but GTI-R pistons and DE rods would?

No problems putting GTI-R pistons on DE rods?

The only real worry for the DET rods/pistons into a VE (with DE crank) would be the oil piston quirters. The DETs had them, as do the VEs so the DET pistons will have the correct notches taken out of the skirt. Regular DE engines don't have oil squirters so the piston skirts are full (not notched).

I'm not sure why everyone says the GTi-R stuff won't work. They may be right, I just can't figure out why.
I always thought all that was interchangeable. Maybe the big-end of the rods are wider (with wider bearings) but that's not the end of the world.

How is that a worry then? If the DET pistons already have the correct notches?

if you read the whole thing he said de pistons because the skirts are full

you can use gti-r bearings on other motors though so that doesnt make sense either?
