Thread: B15 tranny not lining up with rear mm bracket???

and in actuallity if you really wanted to short cut it you could even leave the passenger axle in place in the carrier and just put the trans back up carefully and slide the axle in and imput shaft in and the same time but again, This just makes for one more pain in the butt.

Its easier to do it with the crossmember in the car. Takes less time to.

Thats how I always do it.

True, it can take less time especially if you have a nice trans jack to help you along but again you really have to be careful of that rear motor mount bracket, Again all it takes is the weight of the motor to weak that thin metal and getting the 3 14mm bolts back in and lined up will be near impossible.

screw a trans jack grab a friend haha. Try to bend that rear motor mount that metal is some strong ass stuff

lol been there done that man, ive tweeked that bracket pretty good just resting the weight of the motor and trans on it without the 3 14mm bolts going through the bracket into the trans. Thats why i made my custom bracket that uses 1/8" thick angle iron to use both 17mm bolts on the back and not only that it strengthened that bracket up a ton. I dont think i will ever have to worry about cracking a trans case ever again, haha

That happened after i broke a chunk off the back part of the trans case wheel hopping on the track. haha.

Here are pics of it bolted up into position. good fitment, had to grind a little bit off the block where it indents in near the bolts but nothing major.

well there is a reason nissan put those 3 bolts in there so you should use them

i am using them, lol, those were old pics. Im running 5 total bolts now not 4.

That was just to show the mod i did to the bracket.

But im using all 3 14mm bolts and the two 17mm bolts for the upper part of the bracket.

yep, friends are handy these trannys are alot lighter then some of the rwd trannys i've done

i usually do have friends to help. im just saying it takes very little time to actually pull down the crossmember so why not if it makes it easier.

But hey everyone has their own way of doing it and if it works for you, cool.

Im just saying that bracket is not as strong as you think and with just the weight of the motor it will bend and again you will never get those bolts to line back up. So just be careful if your going to do it that way.
