LSD or not?
im goin to get a transmission and pretty much the whole drivetrain from some guy in town. Its not the original transmission that came in his SE-R. He said it is LSD but how can i really tell? What are the differences between a LSD tranny and a non LSD tranny? is there like a code or something on it?

Also there is a rod inside where the axle slides into the transmission, the rod is perpendicular to the axles and would prevent something from going through the center. If it does not have that rod it is no LSD.

And if you cannot notice the buldge, the drivers side axle seal is like 2-3 times bigger than the passenger side seal, if they are the same size no LSD

The oil seals are different sizes. The drivers side oil seal is larger than the passenger side oil seal on the LSD transmissions.

Also the LSD bulge will tell you that you are looking at an lsd transmission.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't see the earlier post stating the same information.

ALL stock vlsd and open diff nissan 32 series gearbox's have spider gears, so they all have the rod crossing the center of the dif. If i has no rod, then its a aftermarket mechanical lsd.

Look for the noticably different size to the output shaft seals, if they are the same size then its open dif, if one is way bigger than the other, its lsd.
