got the ish scared outta me..
went to start my car up to go to the store, it hadnt been ran in a few days.. its been REALLY COLD OUT! so i hop in, crank it over.. nothing.. no fire.. try again, this time it starts but is idling really low an sounds like its missin some cylinders.. im crappin my pants at this point.. pop the hood, give it a look over i immediately notice the radiator fans on, im like oh noes limp home mode! so i give the car a rev, nothin past 3k.. so i turn the car off, pray to the car gods.. an try again. At first it didnt seem to work same low crappy idle, but then VIOLA! she returned to normal!! i was so happy..

any ideas what might cause this? maybe something to do with the weather? or the calum basic chips? maf? mixture of things?

any help is appriciated

it could be something as simple as a bad connection or wire to a sensor. Best thing is to check over the harness for anything loose, corroded, or oddly routed in the engine bay.

hmmm, everything seems fine, pretty much the way its been since i've dropped the ve in, i will keep lookin tho.. the only thing new to the equasion is the weather... i dont drive my car in the rain much but i have a few times, also its colder then its ever been since the engines been installed.. prolly just some kind of quirk i gotta work out.. i'll be pissed if its the ecu.. since theres no way to replace it atm..

i will double check that, its possible that vibrations may have loosend some connections, an at almost 2500 miles on the swap finally started actin up..

thanks for the reply

has anyone had similar problems? from what i can find most peoples cars dont start workin again until they fix whatever the prob is, but mines actin fine now.. just wondering when it'll happen again an if it will make it home..

My money is on your coolant temp sensor.

That will cause the car to go into limp mode and fans to turn on.

Your other possibility is maf sensor, but i doubt that.

ahh coolant temp sensor, thats a good one there.. since its gotten so cold out my car hasnt really been warming up properly lately, i wonder if it gettin so cold has screwd with the sensor an caused it to malfunction or wig out or something..

i have a few coolant sensors i can try, an if need be i can swap out the maf from my gf's g20 to test.. also i have a brand new thermostat on the way from greg

all my wiring was really nice when i swapped it onto the motor, but i did loose a metal clip or two, i think i replaced them tho.. its very possible a connector could be bad, like my iacv one was bad an had to swap it..

I don't think the coolant temp sensor would cause it to go into limp mode but I could be wrong. I would suspect the maf or maf wiring. Have you checked maf ground?
