drivers rear brake caliper clicking noise?
My car (96 200sx ser) has been making a somewhat clicking/tapping sound from the rear drivers side tire area mostly noticeable at lower speeds but I was listening closely while going down the highway tonight and I can still hear it (barely noticeable over the loud exhaust), the sound will stop when I press the brakes and start again when I let off the brakes. The other day I was under the car trying to find the rattle in my rear suspension and noticed a little brake fluid leaking from the caliper, I'm guessing its from the piston. I haven't had time to take the wheel off yet to check it out. Between the rattles in the rear suspension, the exhaust hitting the rear beam, and the caliper clickie thing this car is driving me nutz, any ideas?

Ps. I would have searched but the search thing doesent like to work on my crackberry.

edit: now with videos see 5th post

ya if you see fluid from the caliper itself chances are the seal is prolly toast. Or it could also be that the noise is from the hardware, or even you may need new pads.

best thing to do it jack up the rear and remove the wheel and get a better look

So I just ripped it all apart and the piston seal is toast and there is not a drop of brake fluid in the caliper so the noise is coming from the brake pads rattling in the bracket. So my question is anyone have an extra drivers rear caliper without paying $100. In going to pull the caliper apart and see if I can pop the seal back in and get it working temporary.

you should prolly post in the WTB or Florida section. I have a source at work that we go through it's called Cold Air Distributors, they have a ton of parts readily available, but problem is, i'd have to wait until monday as they are open m-f , but i get a discount on parts.

if you want PM me your info and on monday i can see what i can do, i am in the St Lucie county area so i'm close

I took the caliper apart and it seems like just the piston seal popped out so i put it back in and bled it out (hopefully its not leaking anymore will check tomorrow morning) put the whole thing back together with the brake fluid soaked pads (will be replacing tomorrow) and spun the wheel and the noise is still there, i crawled under the car and it seems like the pads are moving in the bracket and that's what is causing the sound, i don't know how to stop it at first i thought it was the wheel bearing i cant get the dust cap off

sorry about the crappy crackberry videos but you get the point
