yes, retuning is needed. You have to edit the closed loop part of the map to be open loop...I think in NDS and some other consult software you can actually turn the o2 off as part of the active tests.
In the words of Setzer: Hi, I disabled the o2 feedback, which is difficult to do in tunerpro. I recommend downloading the trial of nistune, or better yet buying it, and loading your bin to disable it. From there I threw in the wideband and drove while stopping to change things on the laptop as I went. I did borrow a realtime to do this. Also you will need to change the closed loop parts of your map to open loop by subtracting 128 (I think?) from your closed loop portions to make them open loop. Pretty much make it look like the high load part of the map but with lower values.
Got all that?? I'm not to this point with my car yet, have to have a motor in it to tune it...

Yeah, makes sense. The only downside to that is I don't have a wideband yet. By subtracting 128 from all of the closed loop values (which I believe is correct), should my ECU definitely get within a close range to all of the values I have in each cell, or is the wideband a MUST? (I know it SHOULD be a must for a turbo car, that is coming in the spring when I save some extra money)

To update, the car is running significantly better, and has yet to stall out (whereas it used to on occasion at stops before resetting the codes).
Unfortunately it's still too cold here to see if the sensor will kick the fans on now, seeing as it can't get that warm. The next fillup, though, will tell me how the mileage has changed, if at all.

hahahahahahahahaha im going through the same crap! well i dont know if its runnin rich but i think it is because it runs kinda crappy until i been drivin a good while.. not sure on the gas consumption tho?
i havent replaced the sensors but before winter hit they DID work! i did replace the T-stat with a nissan one i got from Gregv an still no change.. she runs cool no matter what i do the temp needle never gets above the first line.. i was thinkin about changin the sensors but i think im going to wait until the weather warms up..
whats odd is none of my other de's have done this, including the one in my gf's G20 currently.. it warms up just fine.. same with my friends stock se-r, it warms up normal as well.. an i used the sensor from my old engine an they always worked fine, until winter hit an i had them in the ve that is..
