I've never personally cleaned them.

They make some nice bristled terminal cleaners you can buy or if you have a stiff wire brush that also works well.

Sounds like you aren't getting enough power to your starter....

Use some scotchbrite or sand paper, or a wire brush, or whatever. You just need something abrasive to get all the crap off. Clean the terminals and posts and try starting your car.

eh that really doesnt sound like the starter not working, though it still could be the starter, normally the start will click repetitivly over and over like its trying to spin the motor but doesnt. but that still could be the start engauging and disengauging not sure

Mine was doing the same thing, intermittently.
Battery connections looked O.K., but when I removed them, they were corroded
pretty bad inside.
Cleaned up + and - battery connection, body ground near battery and thermostat
ground with sand paper.
Put dielectric grease on all connections.
Starts great now.

I'll try cleaning the battery terminals tomorrow. Might as well try the things that are free
before I go out and start buying parts -_-

^ Was getting my car repainted so they didn't touch the engine. The car was working when
they moved the car out of the shop, but when I was about to take it home it wouldn't
start -_-
