Car won't crank -_-
Well I went to take my car home from the body shop and when I tried to start
it the car wouldn't crank. I thought it was the battery so I got a new one since
my old one was still under warranty but still it would not crank. I towed the car
home and thought my starter died, so I took it out and had it tested at
Autozone and they said that it was still good. Now I'm thinking maybe my
alternator is bad. Could a bad alternator cause the car not to start/crank.
All I hear when I try to turn the car on is a click click click sound.

Before I took it to the body shop the car was acting a little funny. It would
take me two or three tries before I could finally get the car to start in the
morning, but throughout the day it would start up normally.

My car is a '98 200sx SE-R w/ AT btw.

more than likly the start, hit the starter with a hammer or blunt object and see if it starts or turns over, if it does then get a new starter

^ After I got it tested last night and it was positive I put it back in the car and gave it
a good whack to see if it would start. But nothing happened -_-.

And yes, it is an auto

no, a bad alternator will not cause it to not crank. it would still crank but you'd have the battery & brake light on the dash....what else have you tried?

try and give it a few more hits, if the starter gets stuck out and the starter motor in it tries to turn with it stuck out you will get that clicking noise

^ I'll try to give it a few more hits right now.

BTW, that V-Plate is the most pointless thing on the car !

Still nothing. My car had this exact same problem two years ago and it turned out to
be the starter. But I got it tested yesterday and it was still good so I was hesitant to
buy a new one. Is it possible for it to be tested positive, but still be a dud when it's in
the car?! I thought I remember someone saying this when I had the problem two years ago.

Check and clean your battery terminals. The starter isn't getting enough power. That's why it clicks when you try to start it. If the starter were bad it wouldn't click. It doesn't do anything when it's stuck. Clean the terminals and you should be fine.

^ What should I use to clean the terminals and how would I go about doing so?!
I've never personally cleaned them.
