Its not that I would skip a JDM RR, I'm just saying try to get whatever is cleanest, don't worry about having to have a RR engine. Its really not a big deal. If you want performance just get a VE, otherwise get try to get a really clean JDM DE and don't turn down a good deal on any type.
Just my opinion, but with your current sludge monster engine I wouldn't bother running 93 octane or advancing the timing. Its a steaming pile, there's no point in treating it like a performance engine now. Save your money and replace it. In the meantime just treat it like the pile it is and run 87 octane and set the timing back to 15. I bet if you really get creative with it you can get that engine to keep running for quite a while, but I wouldn't bother trying to treat it like its anything more than something to move the car from point A to B.
The car would take for ever to warm up with 10w30 oil, so I skipped it and started using 5w30.
Performance engine would be nice, but VE is little too much... Miko convinced me on a JDM RR because of the crank 150 HP, which is more then any other DE. Plus the whole idea of having roller rockers is a plus because of less friction.
Now I hear RR's are bad for Turbo's, I doubt this car will ever see a turbo so I just need something thats reliable, good on gas, and has some pep to it
Chris Skaggs found one of his thread right before his engine died...
here it is... I'm experiencing some of those symptoms...
