And....you will love it

Fellas, think Covert is due for a call to Miko......

Dudeman

I have been thinking VE as of late myself.........Do to the VE vs DE head situation...........I would have to agree on the VE note!.

Also that temp gauge in that video...my engine likes to stay like that during this 40ish degree weather we have right now...what temp is that roughly though?

The car cools down way too quickly. It was like 25's outside though. But I noticed if I let the car worm up to the middle, then floor the car, it can go back down very quickly.

This is because of the fast driving/cold air, but another thing could be is because there is Ethanol in our gas and it doesn't burn as hot. I heard of that theory on another forum.

You could probably stretch the lifetime out a bit by going to a higher weight oil. That will probably 'fix' the oil light issue. Just plan on putting a JDM DE in there. I wouldn't worry about trying to get a RR engine, just try to get the freshest JDM engine you can. If you find a nice clean regular DE go with it and don't look back.

High weight oil as in from 5w30 to 10w30?

Why not a JDM RR? I don't like like the USDM ones because of the lower redline etc. But JDM RR's sound pretty good

What ever I can find for the least amount of $$ pretty much

Honestly you don't have much to loose with your current engine. I'd try 10w40 and see if the light goes away.

Its not that I would skip a JDM RR, I'm just saying try to get whatever is cleanest, don't worry about having to have a RR engine. Its really not a big deal. If you want performance just get a VE, otherwise get try to get a really clean JDM DE and don't turn down a good deal on any type.

Just my opinion, but with your current sludge monster engine I wouldn't bother running 93 octane or advancing the timing. Its a steaming pile, there's no point in treating it like a performance engine now. Save your money and replace it. In the meantime just treat it like the pile it is and run 87 octane and set the timing back to 15. I bet if you really get creative with it you can get that engine to keep running for quite a while, but I wouldn't bother trying to treat it like its anything more than something to move the car from point A to B.

The car would take for ever to warm up with 10w30 oil, so I skipped it and started using 5w30.

Performance engine would be nice, but VE is little too much... Miko convinced me on a JDM RR because of the crank 150 HP, which is more then any other DE. Plus the whole idea of having roller rockers is a plus because of less friction.

Now I hear RR's are bad for Turbo's, I doubt this car will ever see a turbo so I just need something thats reliable, good on gas, and has some pep to it

Chris Skaggs found one of his thread right before his engine died... here it is... I'm experiencing some of those symptoms...

The first time you posted the pics of your engine I knew you were living on borrowed time.

Well yeah I figured so myself, hehe. But she lived almost a year after I found out...

All the performance mods and extra flooring of the car probably doesn't help it live any longer...

Last Monday I disconnected my oil separator to find the "white stuff" inside

Best bet... headgasket leak. Thus that solves the mystery of were my oil goes...

Edit more info:

Easy. When it's an oil and water emulsion from a leaking or blown head gasket. If this happens, you get a whitish cream coloured sludge on the inside of the oil filler cap.
