No I ran 2.5 SSAC to a 3" NA. It was the JDM DE before I re-turbo-ed it. Pretty loud even with a cat a big resonator and a big muffler. All magnaflow bits. Good power and very good tq surprisingly.

I think they're quieter when on the low lobes, louder when the high lobes engage.
Yeah the VE are quieter on the low lobe but I don't think a 3" is worth the noise for a daily driver.
I have made 3 exhausts for B13 with my fabricator in the last 2 years. It costs me ~$300 usually all included with good components paying him ~$50 and some burgers or whatever.
That said I'd definitely go with a pre-bent tubing kit in the future.

Haven't read the full thread but here is my take on the eBay exhausts...

Fitment wont always be the best
Quality is below par, the stainless steel metal is so thin that the hangers ripped a chunk off the pipe. Gaskets are crappy too
Very Loud and very raspy
Changed the Muffler to make it quiet, started sounding like ass because the resonator was very crappy. New resonator later finally sounded better.
Muffler is a typical ricey 4.5" can that every cop will pull you over for.
After I was done with it the only part of the ebay kit that I had left was the b pipe (one that circles around the gas tank).
From a price stand point...
Exhaust - $250ish shipped
New Muffler - $150
New Resonator - $80
New better quality piping kit (no reso or muffler since you already have better ones) - $250.
So you basically go back where you started but you have wasted $250.
Get a exhaust from OEM guys or VRS. Both are worth the money.
Oh and with my MEgan ex also supposed 2.5" mandrel necked down at every turn. On some almost to 2". Fitment was a total bear like Vadim says.

I think I had the N1 exhaust, and the turns to go around the gas tank where fine, but going over the axle, it went down to 2" or below right below hitting the muffler. That was very annoying!
