Thread: Battery/Brake light on -Yes i put in an alt...

Just as the title says,

Battery and brake light on. Charging voltage is whatever battery voltage is. I swapped alternators with a known good used one, however i think it may be been from a b14. The voltage regulator looks different and the battery cable hook up is a bit different as well. What controls alt output? just the regulator?

Either way, that alternator does not do anything either. I checked all fuses and fusible links per owners manual

Any other ideas? What controls the voltage regulator on the alt? I see it has 2 wires going to it. Also does that cable run directly to the battery and hook up on one of the 2 plugs on the positive cable?

I put on a new eyelet and new eyelet for the ground cable as well.

I need to get this thing running..like now.

do you have a test light? you should then turn the key on see if your test light lights up in one terminal and should bring on the warning light on in the other terminal. also check voltage at the alternator see what you have there

It doesn't matter if it's for a B14 and you have a B13. I'm running a B13 alt on my B14 VE with no problems. Have you checked your connections and cleaned them? Take the both altenators in and have them checked. They may both be bad.
