Clutch Pedal problem
Ok, so since my car cannot go a week without having something else break I come to you gents yet again.

This morning i stepped on the clutch to start my car, i hear a loud popping like noise. So i do the usual, check the cable, check the dog ear housing that bolts to the firewall.

So i check the pedal.

The top bolt for the clutch pedal assembly broke off a chunk of the section it bolts into, leaving my pedal with no point of contact at the top.

The part it mounts to, is that a bracket that can be replaced or is that a welded piece to the firewall? Just want to know what im looking at as pertains to methods of repair while i start removing my dash.

Praying for a bracket

simillar happendt to my gas pedal...when i push it it would go to the side and get stuck against the trim next to the ecu...but there was a bracket that the gas pedal botls to that was spot welded from the factory!!

so i took self tapping sheet metal screws and drilled it all together...its held up almost a year now...

ur story is differnt...fix that asap and good luck with ALL THAT ROOM by the pedal

the top and bottom bracket both broke on me...so i screwd them back where they were spotwelded

my pedal actually got stuck WOT a cpoule times and scarred the **** out of me....

Not looking forward to this. However if I cant replace the part and have to rig it up, I will most likely machine a stronger bracket. The factory one that the piece broke off from looks really cheap and ****ty. Probably works fine for stock clutches but im not surprised more havent broken under the strength of the pressure plates similar or stronger than mine.

Ok, a little input request. Here is my idea-

If i cant find a way to replace/fix the mounting point for the pedal assembly i may try to-

Drill a hole clear through in alignment with the top bolt position on the bracket, straight through the firewall, or the closest solid metal object that can hold force. Run a bolt straight through from the pedal assembly through said hole, mount and weld a re-enforcing plate on the opposing side of said hole (if it be on the firewall) and lock washer and nut it in position.

I appreciate anyones input on this for I am completely lost for ideas. If i cant find a way to make this work im going to have to move onto a new shell for my ve

Solution complete. Pics below.
Ended up not being the firewall i guess that gets drilled through. The mounting point faces upward so it comes out right beneath the drivers side wiper motor. Easy as pie.

Not sure exactly what i could do to re-enforce it considering its location. Im thinking I may just shop for a new shell.
