Our B13 Sentra E winter beater gets its 1st mod (a tach and clock!)
Those who know the b13 well know the base Sentra E did not even include a tach *much less a clock...

...so last week when I went to the local junkyard, I finally found a 93 Sentra WITH tach and clock.

The mod was not as easy as it seemed (factory manuals had incorrect wiring diagrams FTL) but thankfully Mike is an engineer and was eventually able to figure it all out and solder it to work..

It was a project he would have never even considered had he known all the issues because it took all day yesterday.. BUT I must say the end results are nice!

Before and after shots:

IN the car before swap:

OLD one out of the car after speedo swap so the car kept the correct odometer:

and final product IN the car:

Much, much better.

Holy crap, the E stock dash sucks. No tach?!? WTF.

Further, I am so used to seeing the SE-R dash. Anything else just looks wrong.

Nice performance upgrade.

XEs didn't have tachs either. It was kinda good for me and I'm sure other people too, to learn to shift by the sound of the engine.

Didn't the XE have shift points marked on the Speedometer? Small dots? Maybe I'm just mistaken.

Nice job on this mod though, I love seeing modifications that look like they were meant to be there in the first place. When I read the title I was preparing to see one of those monstrous 6 inch diameter dash mounted tachs!

QFT. Nice mod Chris. Its the coolest thing when you have a car full of mods that people unfamiliar with your car would never know of, or even think about.

yeah, the only sad thing is it will probably be lost on the new buyer when we sell the car in spring (unless we sell to a fellow enthusiast who will know/understand and appreciate!)
