Thread: Water pump block off plate question.

I finally got myself a spare electric water pump incase my current one fails on my next TX trip. Since I have a spare I wont need to keep my mechanical water pump anymore and I have decided to remove it. I have a block off plate that I will be putting it in over the weekend.

Should I put grey RTV on it or should the little rubber strip be enough? If i need to put RTV where should I apply it?

This is for a daily driven car if it makes any difference.

no its o-ringed so you dont have to, just make sure the mating surface is really clean and smooth, do not scratch it. Im using the same one and ive had no problems with leaks ever. Works great just as it is.

but yeah hes right, i just cleaned the surface really good on mine. raced it all weekend and not one bit of a leak
