as well as, just using a Porsche/Audi term in reference to our turd boxes.

I guess until you start working on these cars, you don't really understand just how basic (ie. econo oriented) they are, relative to other cars :o

Even with the k03 turbo that car can move pretty good a disco potato kit c2 chip and exhaust the car will go good....the turbo is very small u can cap the inlet with a quarter but u could do a big turbo kit or even a k04 out of a Audi

Agreed, they just fall on their face after 5k with the stocker, the k04 is a nice upgrade for not too much money. I have a customer who has a 1.8t VW, started with exhaust from turbo back and added a k&n panel filter(it was ok but still slow). He did a chip and k04 upgrade next & it woke the car right up, finally making decent power. It was an ecu with 4 different maps, stock, 91 oct, 93 oct and race gas. The programs are switched from the cruise control switch. On the 93 program, the thing boogies for being a heavy ass car with fwd on a stock fuel system. It was not a cheap thing for him to do by any means, even if he didn't pay us to do it. Add on labor and you might as well buy a used s4.

I agree with the used S4 its a heavy ass car but my friend has a twin K04 setup with meth injection and supporting mods and a good tune he is over 450 wheel and is hoping to break tens with a full interior this coming year.
