Thread: exploding coolant :(

Well as I was getting to campus today for class trying to find a parking spot I notice my temp gauge starting to rise so I pull over. To my terror there is coolant shooting out of the back of the block under the intake manifold ****ing just my luck. I'm sure its probably just a heater hose or the bulkhead that connects to the back of the head. Still I had to pay for a tow. WTF why do sr20's like to start shooting coolant out of the rear of the motor. I have had another car do the same exact thing. Ahh stupid coolant leaks I hate them. I hate cooling systems in general why don't engines just run cold then you don't have to worry about cooling them. Sorry just had to rant but seriosuly, why doesn't nissan make some decent hoses that can last for a few years and not burst and leak all over the place and leave you standed. This is 2 cars now that this has happened on damn rubber hoses . I guess I'm going to pull the intake manifold now to check out that leak.

On a more serious note, dude, you can't catch a break can you? First your alternator, now this? Perhaps you may wish to consider silicone hoses instead, less prone to bursting.

yes this isn't my week. I need to fix my car by tomorrow to get to campus for a test lol. I also have a paper to write and 2 more tests on monday. Its been a bad week.

When were the hoses last replaced? There are those 2 on the back of the motor that are harder then hell to get to with the motor in the car.

previous owner ddnt even hook up the heatr core hoses , but dammit my a/c wrks like a charm

lol we only use a/c 1 week out of the year.
