Let's take it back..
The disabled the edit button so no one can go back and erase posts... posts with invaluable information.

We need to get the Tech Library over here. Without that -they got nothing. Even if you didn't post it, we can all copy and paste the text, copy the pictures and put them on new hosting sites. After that, if there's a mod over here, he could ever so kindly delete them.
Sounds rash but really everything etool is doing is worse.

I was wondering why they had disabled the edit function.

Although, it seems that contributors can still edit posts as I can still edit my own posts.

I got my writeups saved on my HD. But I can't remove them they disabled that feature

Pretty sure if you guys were allowed to edit your own write-ups they'd probably just revert back to a previous saved version. But it would be hilarious to see one of our former mods over there just wreak havoc.
