i was told if it was a rod it would be louder, dude said it had something to due with valves. And it seems to be commin from the exhaust side. and if it was a rod knock wouldnt it still make noise at idle?
I can't hear the actual knock, but it sure sounds like the cars I've heard with knock. Here's a video I found online that sounds like yours, but with a more audible knock:
Maybe i'm crazy i don't hear knocking just that weird gurgling noise? Yeah he has some valve train noise but nothing sounds that bad. Can you make a video of it holding at higher rpms?

your right i do need another motor. but i'm broke
i thought swappin the head like the tech around my block said would be straight. I donno i'll probably have the motor out this weeken and taken apart.
So a valve shim was in the pan... I'm wondering now if the previous owner really did a valve job, or if he threw a rocker, caused some damage, and then found a shim to put in its place so that he could sell the car/motor as running...
