He HAS a JDM Highport. He's asking if it's feasible to run exhaust, a set of cams, and a set of slicks and get himself into the 14's.

sure, it's possible! back in the day, jay hassinger took his bone stock (cone style air filter added) b14 to a 15sec. flat!

If you have a few parts related to each other that are all not in great shape and usually the more expensive ones without FSM saying when to replace in some cases, you will see that on the dyno for sure.

But if your JDM header is doing better then stated, sure, why not. So it must be something is really good on the intake and exhaust and working together.

I was told that Nissan can use a margin for rated HP and you usually can go higher/better bone stock. That's why I'm getting my car up to spec (besides a muffler) and dyno it, or dyno it with another intake. Then I start looking for a nice exhaust upgrade.

I'm messing with it this way for years now, had 1 dyno in my life and the rest is measured by my senses. Btw, I never had a good header under my car

Previous owner put the JDM motor in, not me.

I have a header on the way, then in two weeks I will order the rest of the exhaust and get it all put on. Cams won't happen until over winter, need to save the $$$$ first.

overkill has really nice exhaust systems for a pretty good price, thats where i got mine.. altho im kinda wishing i got a 3" tho my buddy runs 15.7 at 86.5 or something like that in his se-r, bone stock jdm swap all he has is a hot shot cai, i've raced him with my ve.. he's a quick bastard.. i think with headers an exhaust an some sticky tires he could pull some nice numbers

Any way to tell if this motor already has a set of cams in it? Could explain why the car doesn't idle flat and has some great top end. Would also explain the abnormal e.t at the drags...

pop the VC and look for anything on the cams they may indicate they are aftermarket.

Also, the JDM highport has higher compression. Which, if my memory serves correctly, gives it about 5 or so more HP than a USDM highport.

but at the same time i would think carbon build up (enough to raise compression) would cause ping no?
