Thread: Hard to soft clutch pedal feel

Ok so today my clutch cable snapped on me on the road (:mad Before it snapped the pedal feel was extremely hard...So I replaced the cable with a new one and now the pedal feel is really soft... any explaination for this?....I like it alot now, but what gives?

SEARCH! Clutch cable was old and gritty. Now you have a new clutch cable and its smooth. I hope you got a nissan one. OEM FTW!

No I did not buy the Oem cable.....Why what's up? I knew the one I bought was too cheap to be true.....

when mine had to be replaced i cheaped out and got one from autozone and the metal thread started to come apart..i then replaced that after a weak and got an OEM one from nissan and its lasted me for about 2 yrs now.

so was it the clutch cable that caused the pedal feel to go from hard to soft, or was it stretched out?

i used to spray my cable with white lithium to keep it going smooth

clutch cable stretches on non oem ones, and oem ones grit up bad. If not one thing, it's another
next time you pick up a clutch cable, get the ga16 one, it's a bit shorter, so if/when it does stretch, you still have a functional clutch.

so you dont think having the clutch pedal go from stiff to soft is a result of the clutch itsself but more so from having a stiff clutch pedal that over time resulted in a stretch from tight pedal operation? right

read what topdog posted. it was stiff, snapped, he replaced it, butter smooth.

Happens every time. I love the new clutch cable feel.
Eventually it gets worse and worse, so slowly you don't really notice it.
Until finally you replace it, or re-grease it, or grease up the TOB, etc. then it becomes smooth again and you just wish it would always be like that.
