Alright, yeah since theres been no heat on that plug, I think im going to give it a try with a screw driver right now.... and see how that goes and if that doesnt work ill put the plug back in and spray pb around it, then use an easy out or long pliers like you said.

I'll let you guys know how it goes... be back in a couple mins

i would worry about getting some of those shavings into the oil or maybe have excess in there still that wasnt or cant be gotten, and have the cylinder walls become scored or get into the oil and effect a ton of other things, just saying

true, the easy out bites into it causing shavings, the pliers and screwdriver might not quite as much. but again, all you can do is spray it out as best as able and hope for the best? I'd still do it because I'm way too lazy to pull a head off when I can try something quicker that may work well first.

Yeah, well I ran into some other little problems, and lost the easy out in the cylinder.... so looks like I will be taking the head off

Noo!

Can you get it out with a magnetic tool?

Nooo.....I would say a magnetic tool but it is going to be tough, since it has to be at exactly the right angle to get it out. Another instance where I love the camera I have at work to look inside with a mini camera and see where and how exactly it lies. At this point with all the messing around, it would have probably taken you less time and stress just to pull the head off. That is, only if you are confident with doing it. Taking the head off really isn't that bad of a job, it is an I4 engine. It could be much worse, it could be a Ford V8 inside a huge pickup truck, LOL. The 5.4 triton engines tend to shoot spark plugs out of the head, LOL. Pulling the heads on those things is like a 20something hr job in the book I believe. It could be worse, at this point, I would vote for just bite the bullet and get crackin'.....Like I said, it really isn't that bad of a job, sucks yes, but could be much worse.

Heh, well I had a few friends come over... and while I was waiting for them to come over I started taking things apart, took the distrib, alternator, ignition chip, ignition coil, exhaust manifold, valve cover, fuel rail, and a couple other things off.

One of my friends brought a couple tools with him, we tried a few things and then they finally convinced me to attempt to use another "easy out". As you know, I was not really willing to do that again, since my other easy out was still inside.... anyways, we used the easy out and got the threaded part out. Then we used a magnetic tool for about 45 mins switching turns trying to get the old easy out.... out. Finally managed to get it out. I took a shop vac and put it down there, used the magnetic tool again to get any "debris" out and finally fixed it.

The new spark plug fits right in, so the threads on the block are still good!!!

Anyways, thanks for all of your help and ideas

Good to hear!

I wouldn't hesitate to try easier techniques before you have to tear half the engine apart to fix it.
