Your fans do not work? Or you just thought they were not working because your gauge said you were overheating, and they weren't on at that time?

The fans are not coming on, and the gauge is acting up. If I unplug the temp sensor, the fans run.

yeah your not over heating dude. i think your gauge is juts mest up your getting peranoid because the fans aint kicking on and your gauge is reading H. i bet you they do work but you dont have the will to sit and wait. Do what i did. go to advane get that 55 doller autometer temp gauge and be done with the stock one. the stock one cost me a motor

Are those electric? I tried using the mechanical one, but it was really just inconvenient as it has such a thick line and doesn't really fit in anywhere in the car heh. It would be nice to find an electric aftermarket that you could fit in in place of the OEM gauge.

yeah its electric. 55 bucks. i installed it in about a hour cause i had to drill and tap a hole in the upper radiator hose housing and drill a hole in my firewall to run the wires

I check into getting a gauge. I guess I'm getting to the age where I don't want to work on cars anymore..

I wouldn't say lazy, just lack of time. work, kids, etc..

I've been wanting to put a VE in this car for a long time. I really do not want car payments.

definitly sounds like possibly your gauge is messed up , its hard to know where your engine coolant temp is , i know on my car it reads right at the middle with no problems, then when i go tointo my ecu and log the coolant temps, i noticed that it reads 180 degrees at the middle, then when it gets hotter at idle and goes to like say 215 degrees its still in the middle, so by no means is the factory gauge accurate at depicting accurate temps with the gauge and the needle, it seems very generalized to me

super easy fix. $15 from nissan for the thermister, then go to auto yard. Any b13 gauge cluster, take it out, 3 screws later, and the whole gauge is out. For under $25 you've fixed your issue. If it still acts up, your wire is culprit and can easily be replaced.
