My B14 throws a code if it is not plugged in. There is a resistor that you can use to bypass the knock sensor so it thinks it is good. I know in the B15's with the QR it was really touchy and most people just bypassed them as i did. Its something i have been wanting to do for awhile now but never got around to it.
