Help please with my 200sx
Hello,
I have a 1995 200sx ser 5spd which has been running like a champ for the 6 years I have owned it. Occasionally it sputters and dies at low speeds, but then starts up. This issue happens also on the freeway, were the car sputters with a loss of power for a few seconds then goes back to normal (does not shut off). I have changed the cap/rotor, fuel pump and MAF to no avail. Can someone put me on the right track?
Thank you,
Sam

What about your spark plugs? Doesn't sound like a maf problem but need some more info on what you mean loss of power

i just lowered my idle and its doing something simialar(im cammed and wanted to hear it cam), possibly iavc could be clogged or sticking or just raise the idle, when is the last time u changed the plugs. that wont hurt to change

I'd also recommend spraying some starting fluid or carb cleaner around the intake manifold/tb area to check for vacuum leaks

My DD is doing this same thing, it backfired the other day to haha. Thinking it needs some new plugs or like he said IAVC. It also died a while back and would not start so I took the fuel pump fuse out cranked it put it back it and it started, maybe bad o-rings?

I did change the plugs as well. I have the problem once and then it usually corrects itself for the rest of the day. I guess it does sputter like a intake/exhaust leak, but it is ok right after it throws it's "tantrum" Thank you guys keep the ideas coming.

same sh!t happened to me, i found it was one of my injector o-rings was split and allowing outside air in.

changed out the o-ring and no more sputter...

you can find it by letting your car idle, then take a can of carb clean or brake clean and spray the injectors at the o-rings, if your car bogs or the idle goes up, you found your problem

Wow someone that has owned this car almost as long as I did. I have had this problem in the past as well. I can't tell you for for sure what solved my problem but I did a ton of things recommended to me, Change of pcv valve, Fuel system system cleaning (both through the gas tank additive and the mist style through the intake manifold) I cleaned out the egr valve and the the swaped the bpt valve and cleaned (with pipe cleaners) and replaced damaged vacuum lines, I removed the aiic valve disassembled it cleaned it completely out. When I was done with all of that the car stopped dieing on me.
