what does this do?
what is this? i know that it belongs in my intake system, but i have been running my car w/o it for the longest time. what does it do, and what is its signifigance?

engine is a sr20de roller rocker btw. is it the boost sensor that i have been hearing about that is no use?

its circled in yellow btw. it lies after the MAF, and before the throttle body.

figured i'd ask the sr20 gods

Shouldn't you remember where it goes when you first installed the intake? I'm not sure about the roller rocker and what different vacuum lines and such it has, but that looks like part of the throttle body coolant line ripped off of the manifold/throttle body. You would know if coolant was coming out of it...Post some better pics first. OR possibly the RR engine used a metal elbow instead of a rubber hose with a plastic connector. Look on your stock intake and see if that metal elbow just pops right in.

eh....its not coolant, i can tell you that. the aem had a hole for it, and the stock intake did too, but the place racing didn't. it goes as follows:

filter- air temp sensor - maf - w/e that is - throttle body

and that is where it would normally go into the intake. i can get a hold drilled for it and a rubber ring to properly seal it, but i dont want to rush it too much as its like cold as heck here right now. kinda something like 10 degrees if even that.

it seems to measure vacumn or something. no liquid coming out of it either though.

if i could find it in the FSM that would be very beneficial, but i cant seem to find it. nothing seems affected by it not being intact either. car runs perfectly smooth, and im still getting about 270ish a tank even with this horrible winter blend of gas and a falty o2 sensor.

sorry for the huge size, but i finally found it in the fsm. so what does it do exactly? is it emissions related or...?

btw, its in teal.

Looks like a vacuum line that shouldn't be disconnected. It's probably for the boost sensor, as you've previously stated, but I don't have an RR motor, so I couldn't tell you.
