im not repping ACT, but there are people who havent had issues with them. and i mean that speaks for itsself. tekkie has the ACT clutch and he says no problems there. you cant just go and be negative about a clutch company because of problems SOME people might get, while others may not get.

i definitly think clutches are the #1 aftermarket part that is more subjective than any other part, as there are MANY variables as to why a clutch can break, and it really varies between drivers.

''more hp means 60% chance your tranny will grenade itself'' that is totally false torque breaks things not horsepower

thats cool what u said there about the ACT but theres too many people on here having issues daily with them .. i give it another month or so before someone else has another problem.

are you on crack? I make 330wtq on 18psi gt30r. This is just about what my disco potato car did on 22psi. I just make the torque at 5000rpm instead of 4500.

4psi difference.

bigger turbos make more torque, just at higher rpm.

If you want over 300whp then you are best off without springs to pop out. I drove my car last year for 14K miles and the sprung disk held up to 350whp daily, and 430whp on high boost. over 100 drag passes. But the springs were on their way out!

I have a sintered iron solid disk. Other than the squeeky engagement, it grabs the power very very nicely. OVerall pretty smooth too. Clutch effort is the best though. It is super easy to press in, and won't brake cables anytime soon.

GT2871RBLUBIRD, you must have missunderstood me. Trust me I LOVE torque. I love the feeling of torque, and being pushed back into your seat.

My thing is, I'm riding in a daily driver, that I like to take on long trips too. My car saw around 1700 miles this weekend. I don't want my transmission to break or my axles to snap while I'm away from my house.

Knowing our Transmissions, they are too sensitive to torque, thus keeping the torque fairly low should do good. Please not when I say 250 ft-lbs it's in relevance to horsepower of around 300whp, not 400.

On my BB T25 I'm currently doing 230 whp 220 ft-lbs. With a GTiR T28, I'm hoping to keep torque around 230-250, while horsepower close to 290.

I made only 250~270ftlbs. of torque on the 30r, but made over 400whp. I'm afraid to turn up the boost with the ACT XTPP and 6 puck disc. I am currently talking with Tilton since they are a sponsor of my friends drag car. I would love to get a twin disc clutch for my setup and never have to worry about maxing it out, all while retaining stock pedal feel and engagement.

Yup doing so, getting a GTiR T28 and pretty excited about it

BTW my clutchnet didnt fall apart from abuse. It fell apart in my driveway while the car was in Nuetral! What type of **** is that? I DO NOT LIKE CLUTCHNET AT ALL.

I mean seriously though. The pictures in that thread speak for themselves.

listen i dont agree nor disagree with any of you but some guys its there only transportation but they want that power.. thats cool.. but to me the cars gotta work.. everyday forever type sh1t... and yes some turbos like the one u have coheed will boost quick considering it aint far from a t28 but are you maxing the turbo out? and if you did do you think that hp an tq # will be ever near each other? your set up can do alot more then you that and you know this but you are str8 with the way it runs now right?... prove me wrong max out the turbo with proper precautions fuel wise and try it... prove me wrong.

please link the thread.
All the pictures I have seen of failed clutch parts were center disc's with popped springs.
How did your clutch net part fail ?
Thanks.

I'm going to have to disagree. For me, it's a matter of what kind of horsepower curve you're interested in. I prefer an N/A curve for many reasons, as do many others. The typical turbo power surge and plateau is great for drag racing but not road racing or street driving. Since I'd rather have predictable and linear power delivery, I prefer an N/A curve. They can be obtained from turbocharged engines, it's just a matter of realizing you're going to be low on torque for the most part, and relatively high on HP towards the upper rpm range.

Call my 303WHP/237WTQ (a 66 point spread by the way) pathetic and unbalanced if you want, but I'm going to stick with it if you don't mind.
Making power with less torque (it's going to have to happen at high rpm) also has the added benefit of keeping a weak drivetrain happy.
