I really wanted to drive, but the more I look at the logistics, the more I'm thinking about the Delta option. My brother works there and can get buddy passes for me and the family.

Okay folks I will be reserving a room but will be fars away from the speedway...complete opposite side(right off the I-15 entering the Las Vegas Strip). This will be resevered for last minute peeps whom may not get a room or do not mind staying that far. This is my timeshare acct that I use every now and then, it will be a 2 bedroom room with a living room and kitchen...basically a penthouse. Of course I only ask you pay the amount I pay. I will ask about RV/trailer parking...

Wow thanks, thats flattering...it depends on several factors, but time and energy are the most important. Las Vegas is like a kagillion miles from Nash Vegas! This will be my first no-car convention.

you could always fly down for our famous 20-person MidTN meets!

Friday, Oct 10: Track day at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Open to drivers and spectators alike. Drivers cars will be expected to pass tech inspection and helmets will be required for drivers and passengers. There will be a minimum age for passengers and they must have a helmet to ride along. This will be a fun day and everyone should look forward to attending. Rental cars will be allowed on track, so be sure to pick a good one.

Saturday, Oct 11: Free day to explore
This will be an open/free day to explore the city or surrounding area. There are a lot of cool things to do and see in the area. HERE is a link to 100 Things To Do in Vegas http://govegas.about.com/od/attractions/a/100thingstodo.htm. Of course there is more to do than this list, so do some research and be safe. And save some bail money back in the hotel room or something.

Sunday, Oct 12: Picnic @ Floyd Lamb Park
This years picnic will be held @ Floyd Lamb Park. Click HERE for directions from the Hotel to the Park http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=4315+S+Swenson+St,+Las+Vegas,+NV+89119&geocode=&dirflg=&daddr=9200+Tule+Springs+Rd,+Las+Vegas,+NV+89131&f=d&sll=36.111911,-115.150366&sspn=0.011978,0.018797&ie=UTF8&z=11. There will be a $5 entry fee into the park, payed when you enter. We will have an area set aside for our car show and the picnic will be catered by an outstanding caterer in Vegas. It will feature BBQ'd brisket, 3 different side dishes and 3 desserts as well. There will be judging for the car show and there will be a raffle. Prizes range from very small items all the way up to an AEM EMS stand alone unit worth over $1000. raffle tickets will be $5 each, or 5 for $20.

HOTEL INFO:

Embassy Suites
4315 S. Swenson St
Las Vegas, NV 89119
702-795-2800

Dina Harper is our rep. At this time we do not have the group code, but if you call and tell her it is under SERCA/Lesley Peters you should be good to go. The rate will be $159 per night, the rate good for October 9-12th. That means Thursday night through Monday for those flying out late. There will be small suites as normal, with either King or 2 x Queens and the usual couch in the living room. So pile in.

i've booked my stay through my timeshare exchange and I'll be staying Friday and Saturday near the strip. On Thursday I was thinking about getting a room near the track since we gotta be at the track early on Friday (so no partying for me). Anyone interested in splitting a room?
BTW the room I have is at the Summer Bay Resort which is half a block away from the strip right behind Harrah's and Imperial Palace. It's a 1 bedroom condo/suite and has a sleeper sofa....so if anyone's interested in staying with me, it'll be cheap.....just might have to give me a courtesy reach around.
