Werd. C series cams are not your basic daily driver cam. S4's would be the most I would want in a cam, for a daily driver with just bolt ons. If you're going for a SERIOUS street/track car, then C series would be acceptable. Be willing to pay $$$$ for other mods to make the most use of those C series cams, though. Chuck Header, P&P, just to name a few things I would want with C series cams.

BC STG 2's are kinda crappy down low like MR said, but HOLY HELL there's a difference above 4500rpm. Like a completely different car. Better as a turbo cam.

BC STG 3's are not recommended AT ALL for N/A, IMO. At a minimum, Nitrous. They're great for turbo applications, though. Love 'em.

Nice charts for the C3s! But as has been posted, these are not a good choice for the street because of low RPM losses and lopey idle. For a daily driver, the decision is really between S3s and S4s. Search for previous posts on this specific topic -- there are several that will give you different perspectives on this and the old forum.

The major drawback to the S4s vs. the S3s is lopey idle. Even the S3s have some minor idle issues -- the S4s are worse. But then the S4s hold power to a higher RPM for a very pretty dyno chart.

What you have to ask yourself is how much time you spend above 6500 RPM and whether you are willing to pay for a few ponies up there with a rough idle.

Two other things to think about -- a custom-tuned ECU will help drivability and power (raise idle and reduce idle stabilization timing feedback specs). Also, a 2.5" exhaust and 3" intake will make the most of the cams. Moving from a 60mm to 2.5" exhaust gave me lots of mid-range power gain with S3s. I was surprised by the dyno results.

BTW, does anyone have a bin file tuned for S3s? If so, please send me a pm. Thanks.

i think most definitly that going with a high profile cmashaft is definitly going to be a ostentatious choice, reason being is, if you dont plan on doing the following things and truly taking advantage of a high profile camshaft, its useless.

port and polish
larger valves
multi angle valve job
aftermarket intake manifold
larger throttle body

i really feel all of those mods unless done with a highprofile cam is going to make that cam setup useless utilizing stock parts..you are going to want to increase the volume of air the engine is going to be able to take in and put out, thus having the port and polish, manifold, throttle, valves ect all those are going to allow for hte negine to breathe better, esp at top end

understand that eith a high profile cam the gains are to be made at more of a top end verses a low end so if you choose a top end cam, then you might want to acent the cam with mods that wil try and bring in some mid range, if only to just get back what you lost from stock to the high profile cam in the first place

so basicly a mid range cam at most is needed for most applications, all other cam choices that arent going to equip the engine with the right supporting modifications

I was planing to do that:
Port and Polish
Larger valves - is 1mm oversized enough
5 angle valve job
I was planing on running the stock highport manifold or a GTIR SR20det manifold with the its ITBS - what do you guys think. aftermarket manifolds are so hard to find.
larger throttle body - wasnt planing on doing this. what do u recommend?

I will also add
BC Springs and Retainers
JWT Cam Gears
92mm bore with 11:1 CP pistons
Cometic MLS 0.9mm headgasket
Manley Rods for light weight as I wont need them for strength N/A
VE oil pump
Unorthodox set of 4 UR lightweight pulleys
Fidanza 8.5 lbs Lightened Flywheel
3 inch warm air intake with N60 MAF and K&N Pop Charger
SSAC 2.5 headers wrapped with full 2.5 inch custom piping back using 2 45 degree mandrel bends only
A Nistune ECU

I am trying to build a 200whp DE

What kind of mid range did you get with bigger exhaust
I dont mind living above 6500 RPM
the Nistune ECU as yall know is tunable

I have no problem with a lopey idle. I actually love lopey idles as long as the car is not shutting off.
