first off let me say that I am not a native and use some terms that are alien.
yes the radiator is made up of the core that has the tubes and fins.
At either end is a header tank.

These had the two connections into one header tank and went from one connection to the other with some sort of connection, I was told this was basically just a metal tube in the coolant in one header tank. The new cooler had a temp thermostat to stop over cooling and was connected up without the radiator connections.
So now you know as much as me, and if you call this tank a header tank and you get strange looks so be it
If you want to confuse people even more I can teach you wing, boot, bonnet, big ends, door sill etc
