MAJOR sludge problem!!! Need help!
OK, my car (VE powered NX2000) was runnning great and had plenty of power, but of course I wanted more....DUH

Now here's the problem. I open up the valve cover last night to install a set of sr16ve cams and WOW there was alot of sludge!!! I mean alot. The cams were free and clean, but I was worried about the oil tubes supplying oil to the cams....

My question is what do I do to clean it??? What chemicals will or wont harm anything?

Anybody that doesn't know what to do please don't respond because I don't want to mess my motor up, I just want to clean it.

thanks

Where's Vadim?

A picture or two wouldn't hurt.

i recomend amsoil engine flush, it works great, it will clean and free up that sludge, kerosene will also work, dont use too much though, kerosene will clean it up though, depending on how much sludge there is.

get the amsoil or kerosene use it with your current oil, run it in the engine for 20 minutes at idle, dont drive with it in the engine, the change the oil, i would recomend, putting kerosene in, running it for 20 minutes, change the oil with off brand cheapo oil repeat kerosene, then change it with your fav brand of oil. repeat a good ammount of times maybe 3-5 times

but this is only going to get the gunk and slude away and clean the engine, if you have done repetitive oil changes on time and all that, then you need to get to the botom of why you are getting oil sludge.

do you have a oil temp or oil pressure gauge hooked yup?

I just bought the motor, it wasn't my doing....$hit I change my oil constant. This is from sitting and the previous owner not changing the oil AT ALL. I am surprised the motor lasted this long like this......but like I said it runs GREAT!

Now I have no access to amsoil products. Now should I just add kerosene? And how much do i add? Also I put it in the oil fill up spot right?

And what about seafoam?? I need to do this today. I already cleaned the oil passages over the cams so the cams will definitely be getting the proper oil supply. I just don't want all that oil sludge lying around in there.

personally the way i have done it in the past is empty 10% of the engine oil then add 10% of the total ammount of oil in the crankcase with the kerosnee

but if it is really gunked up, a few times is goingt to be needed

so add it in the oil ,change the oil with cheap oil, add the kero again repeat and repeat

so empty 10% of 3.5 qt then add 10% of 3.5qt in kerosene

if you must know alot of engine flushes that you buy are pure kerosene with a few other detergents.. just buy a motor flush from adavance. i just bought one. forgot the name but it was a grey bottle and it was like 3 bucks. it smelled like straight up kerosene but it did the job very well
