Thread: legally importing grey market vehicles

ok sure we all know its either impossible or a PITA to doit..BUT
ive seen some pulsar GTiRs in canada for sale for a good price...my question is living in michigan is it possible to get a car thats been legalized for canada into the states and whats needed to do so? what was the deal with the "pulling the engine and shipping it separate"

why dont you save yourself the headache and buy one that in the states already

now where am i gonna find something like that haha? i would if i could find one...its just an idea...id like to finish the NX first before i go buying another car...but honestly is it just as hard to bring that car from canada as it is japan?

We have more strict rules than Canada. That's why you see all these awesome cars in Canada but not here. You have to go through thousands of dollars of paper work to get it legalized. And you might have to change out the glass because it breaks different. You have to make it DOT approved.

That's if I remember right. People correct me if I'm wrong.

If you look hard enough you can get Gti-r's around 10k.
There's a spec-r s15 silvia on ebay right now for around 30k, and he has all the paper work.

hmm...yeah thats what i was thinking....somebody once told me something about pulling the engine and trans and importing the body and the drivetrain separately...thus SOMEHOW making it a kit car?
