Thread: b14 trans questions

i'm sure this is probably covered somewhere but after 9 pages of looking i'll just ask. i recently got 5th gear popout and was wondering is it worth it to get a b14 trans or fix mine? it looks like between the fifth gear kit and getting all the bearings it'll be around $800 or i can possibly get a used b14 trans for around $600. i've always read where the 5th gear problem was fixed in 94 but then i saw a post where someone said that it still happens in the b14's. i don't want to spend the money or really have the need, power wise, for a b15 tranny. so should i fix mine or will a b14 work, meaning i wouldn't always have to wonder when 5th will go in it? thanks for any help

It shouldn't happen as much in the B14's, but it still does. And $600 seems kinda pricey for a used B14 tranny. I got mine for $300 from a salvage yard with 134k on it.

i just talked to a guy that has one with 104k for $400. so is it the same problem with fifth? i ask because the kits are listed for b13 sentras.

the B13's were worse than the B14 trannies, but you still have popout issues with either. It's just more prominent in the 13's/
