Are you referring to steering wheel PLAY, or just that it feels like power steering is working too well?

Generally, replacing inner/outer tie rod ends solve the problem of feeling play in the steering rack. If it's just overall too free, but there's no play in the steering wheel, you should just try removing the power steering

thanks tekkie. overall its just loose especially compared to my mazda and from what i remember of my se-l. hmmm maybe changing the "strut hat" thing with the broken 3rd bolt will make me feel better. kinda weird to have a strut bar that only has two bolt to mount to. lol

i would change that immediately if its missing one bolt...also if your rack starts to develop play then that would cause it

After All Is Said An Done If Its Still To Loose.. Rack An Pinion Has To Be Changed But Leave It As Last Resort

try some castor bushings. That will improve the on-center feel and return-to-center. Makes it a bit stiffer.
