Msd 2 step blowing up distributors.
There is a old wives tale down here that Msd 2 step blows up your distributor over time. Is this true or this is just a street myth?

My dizzy still works fine. I've had it for about 8 months.

Well I had a 2 step digital 6+ on my car. IT fried last season so I took it out and replaced it with a streetfire ignition. The rotor only had about 14K miles on it, but you couldn't tell. The rotor metal was in very very bad shape. I've seen rotors with over 100K miles with less wear on them.

But I do bounce the limiter... alot. And I guess 7000rpm will wear out the rotor and cap faster than 3500rpm daily driving lol.

I have not had any issues with the dizzy though. Just the rotor wear.

yeah ive heard of the msd units frying a lot. Ill say this for like the 5th time in this forum, i have yet to see a distributer on an sr20 actually go completely bad. Ive seen the wiring at the connector break or start to break causing problems but not the distro itself. Its very very very rare.

That msd unit will go out well before the dizzy will.

I think I still have a 6AL for sale in my box of goodies, hit me up later if you haven't gotten one. It is brand new, just sitting on the shelf.
