Thread: Whats off about this motor???

I was on ebay looking for a motor and came across this
94-99 NISSAN SENTRA G20 200SX 2.0L DOHC ENGINE SR20DE:eBay Motors (item 250457798422 end time Jul-13-09 14:31:04 PDT)

Anybody have any idea why first it has a back valve cover and next why does the intake manifold look different and I know its a lowport, but something still doesn't look right? Maybe I am crazy, but it looks different then a plain lowport sr20de motor.

Admittedly, I don't know my roller rockers at all, but that looks like a VE to me. Intake manifold looks like a VE, valve cover looks like a VE (slanted profile and built in catch can), the oil filter is mounted like a VE.

Maybe all these things are on roller rockers too... *shrug*

I guess the exhaust heatshield is a give-away?

That's no VE. it's most likely a RR motor. The only thing that resembles a VE is the valve cover. That's definitely got DE manifolds.

I would think the IM would convinve me to believe a ve against my better judgement of knowing its a RR haha.

Doesn't look like a VE to me, don't see any solenoids.

Its a RR

It's a JDM Roller Rocker. Raised Valve cover, VC built in Catch Can, Intake Manifold.

The reason I say JDM, is because it doesn't have have an annoying CAT in the header.
