Seriously, if I had the money and the ability, I would do it in a heartbeat. I can then live vicariously through you.

The GTiR DET is not a roller rocker motor. The right cams to use are the S3M.

Yes, the whole post explained what I was referring to. Which would be your wife's car.

THis is a picture of my car

its a hit or miss with reliability.. mine has been perfect but mine came in a completely stock 1 owner condition. i've had mine for nearly 2.5 years, daily driven, put on 50,000km's, only replaced the alternator.

first thing to change are to 4pot brakes.. before anything else, you will find out shortly why. or you'll end up in a ditch and then realize u have to change.

i have no problems. i run mt90 in the tranny and heavyweight shockproof in the transfer and rear diff.

i dont ram it through the gears, i launch it from 5k occasionally, i always rev match on down shifts, i drive it in all seasons everyday.

no crunching, my first gear whines but its a common gti-r issue.

keep an eye on the engine mounts

Shoot not to mention, GTiR transmissions are probably a dime a dozen from all the swaps into FWD cars.

what i do when i get a new car is assume any part of the car you know isnt new, needs replacing, your basic stuff i would recomend doing unless it is new ie: oil change, trans fluid change, coolant flush and refill, then stuff like plugs, wires, rotor cap, rotor button, then you should be good to go.

ANY car can be relieable or unrelieable, it just depends on the upkeep you do, as long as you take care of it, it should be relieable...any transmission can go bad if you bang the gears, and stuff like that...if it shifts smoothe now with no grinds and all that it should be fine.
