I'll have to buy an extra filter from Napa tomorrow and cut it open, see what it's like.

Did you have the right part number? If you have an older high port then it would need the filter for it, and if you stuck the newer one on then it would kinda thread on but would end up popping off with pressure.

Reason I put it that way is because my DET, W11 Avenir, is a High Port, but it uses the same oil filter as the my 99 low port did. Trust me when I say I tried to sit there and thread on the older styled filter, it just didn't want to work.

I prefer the o-ring seal of the OEM filter over the flat gasket style. The sealing pressure should be higher.

I had the right 1. Cause few time before i used the same part number filter and it worked perfectly, even under boost. The times that it poped off at idle. Went to Fram and never looked back

supertech 7317. Ran it for over 100k miles on a lowport without a single issue. Ran walmart oil too but now I'm on valvoline synthetic. Walmart brand kept going up.

Fram used to be damn good, but lately their quality has been steadily decreasing. A few years ago I'd tell you Fram was the way to go. Now, I'm not so comfortable saying it.
