Thread: clutch cable to short?

so i got a clutch cable from greg and its very nice looks more heavy duty then what was in there, anyway it seems a little short, me an my friend had to work together, i pryed the clutch arm back an he slide the cable on, the clutch feels real stiff an releases pretty high up on the pedal, i have the cable adjusted all the way on the loose side as far as it goes with out comming off.

will it eventually settle?


oh ya and theres a little play in the clutch arm, like half inch..

That's a brand new cable for you, over time it stretches out and needs adjustments, but enjoy it while it still is new

somethings not right, with foot of clutch pedal theres slippage, i think this cables too short.. the clutch grabbed fine before the cable swap, an like i said i had to pry the clutch arm toward firewall to get cable on..

all you changed was the cable nothing else correct?

correct, and its adjusted to be as loose as it can.. unless i can further adjust it at the pedal? but i've never had to do that before when replacing a cable

shouldnt have to is it a 1.6 cable by chance? I know on tekkies car he has the 1.6 cable and that thing is so tight and stiff it makes me cringe.

i got it from Greg V. an he knows what i've got, but i suppose that could be the issue, what about maybe swapping the holes where the bracket mounts iirc theres 2 sets of holes..

what holes do you have it on now? I put my mount on the first two as opposed to the ones closest to the firewall.

hmmm not sure, i think the ones closest to radiator

Errrr... There should only be one set of bolt holes on the clutch cable bracket. That's all of the brackets I have are.
