Sounds like a guy at work when I showed up im my turbo B13 with open downpipe..he told me to "get an exhaust put on it".

I asked, "why"?

He said if I dont I will suck out my piston rings. I asked him how that is ever possible while laughing in his face, and he muttered something about "to much cold air or something...."

check out my build thread in my sig...there are some good pics in there.

As for the motor mount...yeah just gotta move the motror around a little to line it up.

I got my Nx2000 for over a week now. It was standing still for 5 years so I had to go easy on it and also didnt punish it when test driving it.

I found out the car wanted to go to the right a lot at WOT in low gear.

The motor mount is toast, so I fixated it like this.

Now the car is less jumpy at WOT but it still likes going to the right. In other words, those 2 pieces of wood help making the car going the right direction.

Now it seems the 'side' motor mount is toast too, and since I have a Nx1600 thats totaled, I'll be swapping those mounts, because those are still in good shape.

Now I just hope the last motor mount is ok, bc I have no idea how to swap it, and it looks like a hell of a job.

What I said about the pistons wearing out the cylinders is that when the engine would be 100% bolted on the chassis, it would have no room for torsion and wear out because of it.

Get some prothanes for like 50 buck. I am not sure if 1.6 mounts are the same. You might want to search that out.

I will sell you the drivers side and dogbone(one with wood in it lol)prothane mounts right now for 25 shipped. Then you just need the other 2.

Never heard of this, but by "torsion" you mean wasted energy, there's still plenty in the clutch, tires, and axles. Otherwise whp would be 100% flywheel hp.

And yeah, you could probably go cheap and score Energy Suspension inserts for less that $20 somehere.

Never heard of this myself. Also, considering many many many many people go to a sold dogbone mount up front (like turbo guys for the piping clearance needed), it obviously isn't an issue.

In many cases, mounts are designed softer to keep a smoother ride for the driver, make the car feel more 'luxury'. This is why alot of us upgrade to prothane mounts or fill stock mounts with 3M. More rigid gives better performance, but you feel it more inside the car.

1.6 mounts will not work so done even bother. the passenger side mount is diffrent. i belive the tranny one is diffrent to. the only one that might be the same is the rear motor mount other then that get prothanes mounts. if you cant do them then send me your mounts the prothanes and like 60 bucks and i will press all of them in for you

Hey guys,

I'm Dutch and torsion means to me wearing out. Now I was pretty convinced what somebody said about fixating the mounts but now I read your replies and I agree that it's probably minimal or even not happening at all.

@Jen,

I'm pretty convinced the motor mounts are the same, I didn't check the one underneath but they really look the same, so I'll be trying to swap them. I understand that the gains might be minimal and it might need a lot of effort, but I really want to use all the good parts of the totaled car before thinking about where my money is spent best.

I'm not experienced with overseas shipping and I suspect that might cost just as much as buying them overhere. But I want to say thank you for your preparedness to go through the trouble and I'll seriously consider getting some headers when I'm done with maintaining the car.

I'll also will look in to el cheapo replacements, I didn't know motormounts are servicable instead of fully replacing them.
