URGENT HELP NEEDED, please......
ok guys, so latley my nx has been using gas way to much lately....and ive actually rann out 3 times in the last 2 months....so i know my gas gauge is messed up. wen ive put extra gas in it , it always fierd right up the first try... i usally never fill it more that 1/4 tank to 1/2 tank when i fill up and always use 93 octane

well , tonight as i left my work parking lot, got onto the main road, and as i shifted from first to sencond gear, the motor felt odd as if i was towing 1000lbs or somthing. it was sounding like a desil truck wen they downshift/engine brake....so i gave it more gas to get it to move, and the more i pushed the gas down the slower it went, till it backfired REALLLY loud then shut off.

ive had a slight hesittaion when i give about 1/4 throttle for a while now, and feel this is somewhat of the problem...

i put gas in tonight as well ,and this time it didnt start. it just kept cranking and cranking...and would pop from the exhaust but wouldnt start. my mother in law came to the rescue to get me some gas(thanks mom:bigthumbup and she said there was a blue flame out the muffler when it ''popped'' as i was trying to get it to start....

can it be the fuel pump? how long do stock ones last? im stummped....

PLEASE HELP

I could be wrong, but it actually could be a fuel pump. I heard somewhere that the stock fuel pumps dont last as long as other cars. Might be time to upgrade/update the fuel pump?

Also, running out of gas will hurt the fuel pump as well (its not supposed to pump air).

Goodluck with everything, hope I helped.

so im wondering how i can actually tell if the fuel pump is pumpimg? can i stick a volt meter on there to see?

this makes me sooo mad. cuz yesterday i went for a cuise with the wife downtown to the beach and i notices it was relly slower than before...with this part throttle / hesitation when i slightly push the gas.....

Honestly bro it sounds just like your mass air flow sensor . I noticed my car had the same symptoms when I took apart the intake and noticed the mass air flow sensor had water in it. Don't know how but the thing was drenched. I dried it out and it worked perfect. That may be your problem.

According to the Factory Service Manual, you should be able to feel pulsation in your fuel lines (in the engine bay near the fuel filter) if you pinch the lines while someone else turns the key on (just on, not to start). I have never done this because I have a fuel pressure gauge. Also, you can hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key to on. This will only tell you if the fuel pump is pumping, not how much pressure it can deliver to the injectors under load. Have you changed your fuel filter lately?

There are lots of things that could cause you to use more fuel than normal. A common one is a bad O2 sensor, which can also affect driveability. You might want to check that out first. Also, pull codes from your ECU if you can for some tips.

When i had my NX it gave me i similar problem when i first bought it bogged down hesitated like crazy the more you put you foot on the gas. It frustrated the crap outa me but luckily i had the same thing happen to me with my very first car (92 Jetta) so i had an idea what it was and went and got a new set of spark plug wires from autozone then i went to the dealer to get a new Distributor cap, rotor and fuel filter.never gave me a problem after that.Good luck!!!!

i will see if its pumping, i didnt know how to test it...the fuel filter is a year old, the o2 sensor is 2.5 years old.....15k miles old

so heres what ive found thanks to you guys's advice.....

i checked the fuel pump, i pulled the line from the fuel filter, stuck it ina gatorade bottle , turned the key and gas come out. so i cocluded the fuel pump was good.

then i checked pulgs, and wires....they seemed fine and not melted or anything odd....

then i checked the distributor.....and once i un did it i heard someting rolling around in there....like marbles

heres what id found once i pulled off the dist cap.....

the bolt that holds the rotor on came off!!!!! WTF! ive replaced this over a year ago..... and now i know why wen i drove donwtown the other night why it felt as if a had 500lbs extra in ...

so with that bolt/screw gone and rolling around in there it broke part of the rotor...and the holes didnt line up causing it to run horrible....
